One of the best ways to get a woman’s attention is to serenade her with a song using an acoustic guitar. It is an affective way of touching a woman’s heart and showcasing a man’s talent and sincerity.

However, learning how to play acoustic guitar is not easy as it looks. It takes time and a lot of effort to memorize the chords and to master the riffs of the songs. A serenade with mediocre accompaniment of an acoustic guitar can sometimes render the whole presentation a flop and ends up miserably for the man who was serenading.

There are several ways with which you can master acoustic guitar like the great guitar legends such as Andie Mckie, Tommy Emmanuel, Kurt Cobain, Derek Trucks and many others.

One of these is by taking special lessons which is often offered in schools or companies selling musical instruments. If you have no money to go for guitar lessons and believe that you can learn this on your own, there are several books and magazines providing the basic and even advance techniques in playing the instrument.

The internet is also a really convenient and good source of information on how to play the acoustic guitar. Aside from written tutorials, there are flash videos like in YouTube showing the viewer how to play the song. Sometimes, it even includes the tablature on the screen simultaneous with the tutorial.

The only drawback about learning lessons online is that the lessons that can be learned are in bits and pieces. Thankfully, there are many other online acoustic guitar courses you can take online. These offer the complete guitar learning package and the cost is very affordable.

Playing the guitar is a dream for many people. You cannot help, but think about the dream of becoming a rock star and playing the guitar before thousands of fans. That being said, learning the guitar can be a challenge, but there are great benefits to playing guitar.

When learning how to play guitar you might be surprised at how much creativity you tap into. Music is a highly creative and emotional art form, and at first, you may not realize how therapeutic playing guitar can be. It is true that there is some basic work behind the study of a musical instrument like the music theory and terminology that you must learn to be successful. However, once you get that knowledge under your belt you will begin to play guitar with more freedom and creativity. You will be able to explore improvisation as well as possibly even writing some of your own songs.

Learning guitar will stretch your mental capacity. You are going to be challenging yourself both intellectually as well as physically. Your mind has to wrap itself around a new language and a new way of reading (i.e. reading music or charts), and your fingers have to improve their dexterity to play the different chords. As you work your way through your guitar course of study you will be pleasantly surprised at how challenging the study is, but how well your brain and body adapts to it. In no time, you will be talking in musical terms like pianissimo and accelerando like it is a second language. You will also start to see how your guitar playing can help you in other aspects of your life like in your ability to sing more on pitch, or how you can suddenly find the beat in a song with a greater ease.

As you begin to progress from easy guitar to more complicated repertoire you will start to feel an increased sense of self-confidence. Especially as you begin to head into performance opportunities where you are able to play guitar in public you will find yourself working on your self-confidence levels. Additionally, there is something really wonderful about conquering a skill that once seemed like such a foreign concept. As you start to be able to play the songs you love to sing along to on the radio, your confidence will begin to soar. Pretty soon, you will start to feel that confidence carry over into your everyday life.

More than anything, the biggest benefit of playing guitar is that it is quite simply fun. Yes, you do have to work hard to progress, but as you do you will find a great deal of enjoyment from learning how to play guitar. You will get to play the type of music that you want to play, and you will start to feel a great sense of satisfaction from seeing yourself growing and progress musically. The next time that you are at a friendly gathering, you will be the hit of party if you break out your guitar and play some tunes that everyone loves. Music sets the tone for a great time, and what could be more fun than being the one who gets things going?

Want to be the Beethoven or Mozart of your generation? These days, thanks to wonderful innovations in technology, you can learn to play the piano without having to pay for expensive piano lessons. You can play piano online.

There are a lot of websites that allows you to learn to play a variety of musical instruments online, the most popular ones being the guitar, the drums, and the piano.

There’s one easy way to play piano online. Some learn piano websites are fully interactive. Basically, an image of the piano will appear and you’ll use the mouse to click on the keys. Hit the right keys and make fine music online.

If you think you’re good enough, you can even record your playing. This kind of program is written in Java and may take a while to download. These are usually free or you only need to pay a small fee.

You can also download software. This option may cost you a few bucks. Most piano software packages available online include songs and video files, interactive games, and piano lesson books about all kinds of piano playing – from classical to jazz.

Another creative piano lesson online involves teaching people to play the piano by ear. Using one technique, which involves teaching piano patterns one by one and mixing them as the lessons progress, you can play the piano without using written music sheets.

One advantage of learning piano online is it allows flexibility in your time schedule. You can learn to play piano online anytime and anywhere in the world as long as you have your laptop and an internet connection.

Beginning learning to play the guitar can be an excellent experience and is not confined to any age or sex. Before you start, however, consider a few of the following points:

How much can you afford to spend? Don’t forget that an electric guitar has to include the amp, straps, pedals, and other accessories. These can all really add up.

When considering an electric guitar think about the amps you’ll require, solid state amps or tube amps. Whichever you choose will affect the tone.

Try out everything you can in your guitar shop so you can pick out the right instrument for you.

If money is a problem, consider buying a used guitar.

Once you’ve bought the instrument of your choice, you can either try to teach yourself, and there are many resources available on-line and in books, or you can go to a professional for lessons.

Initially you’ll have to learn scales and chords, and by continually practising, your fingers will become more adept. Listen to as much music as possible and by analyzing the music as you’re hearing it you’ll unconsciously start to differentiate between the tones and chords and you’ll appreciate the impact they have on the music itself.

By finding an on-line course for beginning electric guitar lessons you’ll be able to spend time at home learning on a daily basis. This also gives you the opportunity to perhaps record your lessons and by playing them back to yourself you’ll see how much you’ve progressed and how you can improve.

A good on-line program can take you step by step through the processes of learning and give you additional tools to help you achieve the desired result. All your queries will be answered and explained and you’ll be strumming in no time at all.

I would recommend the professional and extremely well put together beginning electric guitar lessons software by Guitar Superstars with their clear and easy to follow step-by-step guide with no stone left unturned. For immediate access to your guitar lessons, continue to: best online guitar lessons

Is it necessary to learn ordinary music notation for guitar or is it sufficient to know how to read tabs? Is it worth the price to learn to read ordinary guitar sheets?

Many guitar books available with tablature notation will also have a staff above with the guitar sheet music notation. It is also very common today that classical guitar books also have a guitar tab staff below.

This was not very common a few decades ago. Tablature has by some guitarists been considered cheating. Is it cheating or is it a help to have tabs at your disposal?

Personally I have as a guitar teacher experienced many instances when tablature has been a great help to my pupils. however, I would be very happy if young musicians would put more energy into the endeavor to learn to read sheet music notation.

It is a great advantage to have a working knowledge on how to read and understand music scores and the various symbols pertaining to it.

Let’s take a look at the advantages of being able to read guitar music notation:

1. You will be able to play a piece of music the way the composer has intended without having heard it before. This is possible because music notation consists of descriptions concerning the pitch and also the length of the notes and other symbols telling you how to play the notes and performing the music.

2. You will have an enormous library of sheet music from various time periods at your disposal. It is possible to play music written for other instruments as well as music notation doesn’t describe how to play the notes on a particular instrument but more which notes to play. This makes it possible for a guitarist to play violin exercises and vocal scores and so on.

3. You will as a guitarist be able to write and arrange music for other instruments in your band making it possible to shorten the rehearsal time and facilitating the use of more complicated musical arrangements.

4. Being able to read and use sheet music will help you as a composer to notate all your ideas in a way that you will remember and that you easily can share with your friends and others.

Let’s look at the advantages of using guitar tablature:

1. Being a poor sheet music reader can hinder your from playing on the level of your techniqal skills. It’s a pity that many guitar pupils play just a few boring sheet music melodies when they could really be playing melodies using the entire fretboard just by the use of tablature.

2. It is very easy to describe chords, licks and complicated riffs with the help of tablature especially if you have audio examples of the music.

3. Tablature notation is still as easy to read even when you use alternative tunings as the tab notation still tells you only how to put your fingers. Using sheet music notation with alternative tunings on the guitar is a bit difficult to say the least.

4. Internet is flooded with more or less accurate tablature renditions of popular riffs, songs and more.

Okey, but what is the best alternative, guitar tablature or guitar sheet music?

My opinion is that you can use tablature as much as you want but I recommend you to really learn to read sheet music notation because of the many advantages you will reap from it.

If you start by learning the names of the notes on the frets of the guitar you have already gained an important skill that will help you as you start to learn the notes on a music score staff.

Were I was considering how to put video on my web pages, the one question that would instantaneously pop to mind was that of quality vs. file size. When I concentrated on how to put video on my web pages, it was important for me and it should be for you to ask yourself the following questions:

· Is it going to hog all the bandwidth?
· Should it be of the highest possible quality?
· Will it put visitors off if it is slow to load?
· Each and every one of these questions has serious implications when you decide how to put video on your web pages.

Bandwidth Issues with Video: Quality First or Second?

If the file is big, then it is bound to load more slowly, and in the process will end up dominating your website’s bandwidth usage. High Definition clips look good, but come at a very extreme price in terms of size that generally would be difficult to pay for regular users.

End of the day, visitors may very well click away or close the window should they find that the videos are too slow to load, making all my efforts in how to put video on my web pages to be utterly in vain. This is something that you also must consider. Read More.

Due to this fact, any and all efforts in how to add video to your web pages should centre on the requirements of the video themselves as well as the visitors. Understandably, some videos require higher quality to convey the reason that you are putting them up. For example, should you wish to show intricate movements for a guitar lesson, then having a mediocre quality would mean that people would not be able to see what you wish them to.

In short, what I would be aiming for in terms of file format is a format that caters to my specific needs and requirements while at the same time being economical in terms of size. In this way, I would be able to endeavour in how to put video on my web pages without adversely affecting my visitors, or defeating the purpose at all. Read More.

Some file formats excel at this better than others, such as Flash video, which has become the ‘lingua franca’ of choice for web videos in many places. Picking the one that is most suited to you needs could possibly be one of the most important decisions you make when deciding how to put video on your web pages.

Article Summary:
Understandably, it is very daunting, and not to mention costly in terms of both time and money when I was discovering how to put video on my web pages. Fortunately, it does not have to be for you. Should you wish to take a shortcut and find an easy, quick, cheap and completely painless method of inserting videos to your web pages, then the Flash Producer software should be your first, and possibly only, stop.

Discipline when you are practicing the guitar is very important. Learning to play the guitar is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done in my life but it was also one of the hardest. The reason that I became proficient with my instrument is simple. I practiced, and I practiced a lot; every day in my bedroom from the age of 16 (I’m 25 now). I spent most of my time practicing the fundamentals: running up and down scales, changing chords and trying to improve my repertoire of songs.

Sometimes it was easy to make time to practice because I was in a good mood and I really wanted to play. At those times I could spend hours just listening to how cool it sounded when I changed from the chord D to the chord G. But on other days it was my discipline and desire to play and improve that made me practice and develop as a player.

There are two main factors when it comes to discipline in practice: practicing regularly and practicing well. Both of these are important to address.

Practicing regularly is the most obvious and easy to do. Basically you should play the guitar every day. These don’t need to be mammoth, three hour long sessions. 30 minutes will generally be fine if you are focused during that time. Doing regular, small amounts of practice is far better than going all out for hours once a week. I know that in a busy life it can be hard to make the time to practice but honestly 30 minutes a day is achievable for anyone. There is no set time that is best to practice but I prefer to do it in the evening simply because I find playing the guitar is a relaxing way to wind down after a stressful day.

Practicing badly is a more common and difficult to address problem. This is something that affects even the most experienced player. This problem has several causes and solutions.

Playing the same thing over and over every time you play. I am a firm believer that you should play something perfectly before you move on. BUT, once you know how to play something you need to move on and keep challenging yourself.

The opposite is also a problem: moving on too quickly. You should practice so that you play a piece well before you go on to the next thing. Playing perfectly and accurately is an excellent habit for any musicians to have.

Not focusing on developing all parts of your musicianship when you are practicing. I like to split my playing into parts. For example I might spend 5 minutes practicing new scales or chords, 10 minutes working on writing new music for myself and maybe 15 minutes learning a new song or part of a song.

Playing things too fast when you first try and learn them. This can cause you to become disillusioned with your playing when you are trying to learn a new song. Most guitarists, including myself try playing a song at a slow speed before trying it a fast pace.

Practicing properly and regularly is the best way to become good at anything including playing the guitar. This requires discipline. Not only discipline to practice regularly, but also discipline to stay focused and on track when you are practicing. If you stay disciplined with your playing you will develop in to an excellent player.

Are you one of those people that dream of playing the electric guitar in a band someday? Well, you are not alone, many people would love to live that dream. And it is possible, as long as you dedicate yourself to learning, and make enough time in your life to find a band to jam with. But the first thing that you need to do is to actually learn how to play that electric guitar.

1. The best thing to do is to learn on an acoustic guitar because you can hear the notes clearer which helps you learn more effectively. So assuming you have perfected the acoustic, its time to move on to the electric guitar. Here is where you are going to have to fork over some cash, so try to factor in that it is not just the guitar, it is also the amplifier, pedals, straps and a hard carrying case. When you are spending that kind of money, it is best to ask the salesperson as many questions as possible. Only when you are one hundred percent sure what you want, then make the purchase.

2. So you get home with all these new toys, you put everything together, but now what? Well, lets play some guitar! This is where all that practicing on your acoustic is going to pay off! So if you have put in a significant numbers of hours playing on the acoustic, then you will find it strangely easy to play the electric guitar.

3. Now just practice as much as possible! Start off by playing all the scales and chords until they are mistake free. After that, try to play some of your favorite songs, listen to segments of the songs, then try to replicate it. After you have perfected that, do your own thing! After all, playing the guitar is all about creativity! Try to create your own music, bit by bit, song by song, you may just find a hidden talent and become one of the greats. So there you have some tips to learn how to play the electric guitar. Keep practicing and trying new thing, and one day you just might be playing up on stage with a band, just like you have dreamed of for years.

Some teachers have a strict rule to how and what they teach and as a teacher this makes life much easier. Format to lessons are very important and you should always try to keep a written record of a student’s progress. This also helps if you have a large number of students and you need prompting on what was taught in previous lessons.

The 1st goal of every student is to play a song, as their teacher you should let the student know, it helps to play songs if you understand:

notes and their timing

the music staff or tablature and its symbols

that you shouldn’t start playing until you know how to hold & place your finger on the instrument

These are three broad steps but it gives you an idea on what steps are involved when tutoring new students. I always explain to my beginner students that the first few lessons will be slow, even a little boring to some as we have to get the basics out of the way before we can move onto songs. After all this is why they have come to you for lessons, not to be bored but to learn the correct techniques. Having students understand the importance of learning the correct technique is a priority. I like to explain it like this; you can play the guitar with your thumb, one finger or even your nose if you want because most songs you’ll start off learning will be that easy. But once you’ve learnt the song you will then move on to a more difficult song. That song will probably require you to use two or three fingers, this means all that work you did learning with thumb, nose or one finger has gone to waste and now you have to relearn using two or three fingers (the correct technique). So in summary, if you learn using incorrect technique it will take you longer because you’ll have to keep on correcting your style as the styles and songs get harder.

I will always try to incorporate a student’s favorite songs into a lesson as soon as possible and base learning around that. If they’re more interested in what they’re learning then they will learn faster. It is a good idea to have at least 10 beginner songs for them to choose from if they can not think of one themselves. I find the hardest students to teach are lessons that like any form of heavy metal or screamer bands as these styles of music are usually,

Fast

Detuned

Have odd or difficult timing

Almost no easy (beginner) songs in these styles

Most of all, the people that like this style of music are usually in opposition to most other styles and this makes their learning scope narrow. For these types of students I will explain to them why they won’t be able to start on these styles and let them know that even some of their favorite guitarists started with simple songs first up. I also like to get a list of some of their favorite bands/guitarists and do a simple Google search on their influences. Usually you’ll find some easier songs & styles, then it relates to their favorite artist.

In other cases a student may not care about what he or she plays, this is good at first because it gives the teacher control over what to teach. I always encourage them to pick some of their favorite songs or styles to keep their interest level up in lessons.

As a teacher I would prefer to keep all lessons on finger exercises, playing technique, theory & scales for the first 6 months before even touching a song but then I wouldn’t have any students so it is a good idea to find a compromise between the two and don’t teach one more than the other.

When we wonder what guitar tab we need to get to begin to make up our repertoire, we usually think only about songs we like. We know that our choice in music does not suck in the slightest but if we are going to be playing our guitar and singing for audiences we need to get used to the idea that our taste in music will not match what our listeners want to hear. We may even take a look at popular choices in songs and get the uncomfortable feeling that we might have to play songs that we do not like. One thing guitar players are famous for is standing on their principles and not compromising on what they are going to play. The other thing they are famous for is giving the audience what they want. So a mixture of these two attitudes is probably going to form in your psyche as you peruse your list of guitar tabs on the internet. While we are on the subject of lists of guitar tabs remember to pay a visit to your local music store or online merchant for ready-made collections of easy guitar tabs. You can find titles like “Popular Songs for Acoustic Guitar” or “CMT\’s 100 Greatest Songs of Country Music”.

One fact that has emerged from field tests conducted by buskers, night club performers and covers bands is that you should look for your repertoire in the songs of years gone by. Oldies are goodies. Another thing you should think about is whether or not you are an audience participation kind of performer. If you are still wondering about it one second after the thought enters your head, then you probably aren\’t. So stay away from songs that require you to yell, “Everybody now!!” or “Just the girls this time!”. Likewise if you play solo acoustic guitar and have a voice like Johnny Cash you might want to stay away from Led Zeppelin\’s “Whole Lotta Love”. But do not walk away from songs you enjoy just because they might not seem immediately doable.Remember Jose Feliciano\’s “Light My Fire” and Eric Clapton\’s unplugged “Layla”.

Of course what songs you choose is not going to matter much if you do not pay attention to how you sing and play the guitar. People pay to see performers who are better at something than they are. Which is where playing material that you like comes in. If you are playing a song that you consider to be a crowd pleaser but you personally think is a load of stomach chunks you give attention to the part the audience likes. You already know what that is. That is why you do not bellow, “Hello darkness my old friend” or shirk on the enthusiasm when you sing the line, “Welcome to the Hotel California”.

Okay so what we get out of all this is first, there are songs that crowds of people like and second, you can sing and play these songs in a way that highlights your particular talents. Now for a basic list of songs that have been known to please a crowd or two over a period of years:

Wild World by Cat Stevens

Imagine – by John Lennon

Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin

Catch the Wind by Donovan

Can\’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley

Waterloo Sunset by The Kinks

Angie by the Rolling Stones

Everybody Hurts by REM

50 ways to leave your lover by Paul Simon

The 59th Street Bridge Song by Simon And Garfunkel

American Pie by Don Maclean

Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell

California Dreamin\’ by The Mamas and Papas

Knockin\’ on Heaven\’s Door by Bob Dylan

Mrs Robinson by Simon And Garfunkel

You\’re so vain by Carly Simon

Blowin\’ In The Wind by Bob Dylan

Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison

I Walk The Line by Johnny Cash

Tears In Heaven by Eric Clapton

Gloria by Van Morrison (or Them)

Hotel California by The Eagles

Behind Blue Eyes by The Who

White Room by Cream

Sex And Candy by Marcy Playground

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers

What Its Like by Everlast

Alison by Elvis Costello

Life By The Drop by Stevie Ray Vaughn

Melissa by Allman Brothers

Dead Flowers by The Rolling Stones

Seagull by Bad Company

Mediterranean Sundance by Al DiMeola and Paco De Lucia

Classical Gas by Mason Williams

This list could be much, much longer, but you probably already see songs here that you would never play in a million years so all I can say now is I hope this guide to essential guitar tab has been helpful.
