Are electric guitar lessons the same as acoustic guitar lessons?

28th February 2010

Ok so i wanna take lead electric guitar lessons… my dad told me that electric and acoustic guitar are the same when it comes to taking lessons. Is That true?

Jason,

Most people play electric and acoustic pretty differently (generally lots of strumming on acoustic, more chunking and playing single notes on electric).

If you really want to play lead guitar, then do NOT take acoustic guitar lessons. The guys teaching acoustic will show you some awesome stuff and a good teacher will teach you well, but you will NOT learn lead like you want to.

Good luck finding the right lessons to teach you lead.

i believe so…maybe. I looked at people play the acoustic and electric guitar and i kind of found a difference on how their played but it only depends on how you play the electric one because of course playing it is the same BUT on the electric there are more stuff you can do on it than a regular acoustic.
