where can i buy and take electric guitar lessons in maryland?
i am 13 and really want to learn how to play the electric guitar
In addition to the others’ answers, you should also ask anyone you know who plays guitar if they can recommend a local teacher. Word-of-mouth is usually the best way to find somebody good.
Regarding finding a guitar, here’s my *strong* recommendation:
1) Go to a music shop and try out a few guitars in the $100-400 price range. I realize you don’t know how to play yet, but just hold them, and strum them. Get a feel for them.
2) Make a note of any you like. Jot down the make and model, and what you liked about it (e.g. "not too heavy, easy to wrap my hand around the neck").
3) Find a USED guitar of the same make/model, or of a similar style. Try not to spend more than $200. There are plenty of cheap used guitars perfect for beginners. Ignore the elitist snobs who try to convince you that you need a $1000 gibson or fender.
Talk to your parents, or other adults to help you find a used one. I recommend trying (in this order):
* local music shops
* garage sales
* pawn shops
* craigslist.
* ebay
Have an adult help you!!!!!!! I cannot stress this enough. DO NOT shop for a used guitar on your own.
Hope this helps.

Where can I get electric guitar lessons?
Rock band doesn’t cut it anymore. Where can I go and about how much would it cost?
i want to rock lol
I hate to sound like a douche, but the problem with most beginners is that they expect it to be like rock band, or guitar hero, the truth is that it is nothing like those games. When you first start playing it is very hard, its like try to read if you dyslexic, it seems impossible (or atleast for me it was). But if you practice an hour or two every day for a week or so, you will start to get the hang of it. You wont be playing like Yngwie Malmsteen or Allen Holdsworth, but you know just simple fun songs (Smoke on the Water, Iron Man, Cat Scratch Fever, etc.). Now alot of people stop there and say "good enough", but you have to keep going. Ohh, i probably sound like a guitar nerd douchebag, if i do i am sorry i dont mean to be.
Anyway, your question, just go to a local music store (NOT GUITAR CENTER), and ask them if they give guitar lessons. It will probably be $100/month, just a rough guess.
