Do you know of any easy guitar songs?

10th April

I started guitar a few months ago and all I’ve been doing is scales and chords and it’s getting boring. I wondered if there was any songs I could learn using the main caged system. Preferably quite modern ones because I’m afraid my music knowledge doesn’t go that far back.

Easy guitar songs for a beginner?

7th April

I just started playing guitar and I want to learn to play an easy song- like one with 2 or 3 simple chords and not too hard of a strumming or picking pattern. I can’t find too many though. Can you reccomend any songs? I’d rather it be by an actual band- so no songs like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or anything please.

easy guitar songs

Thank you!

try take it easy by the eagles. its a very easy song. the intro is just a g chord with and easy strumming pattern. just youtube it to get the strumming pattern and maybe get a tab for it.

4 Chords, 19 Songs on Guitar

5th April

I give an example of some of the many songs that can be played using the same four chords in the same order.

Watch my guitar lesson to learn how to play these four chords: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmChNlDknbM

Watch my other video, “4 Chords, 21 Songs on Guitar” to see me play 21 different songs with these four chords: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pzkilz940dw

*Note: A few things may be confusing for those of you who watch my instructional video and try to play these songs, so I will try to ease your confusion.

1) In the instructional video I teach the chords G,D,Em,C, whereas in this video I play C,G,Am,F and use a capo. The songs can be played with either set of chords, but will be in a different key, depending on which you use.

2) If you want to play along with me while watching the video but don’t have a capo, then you can play D#, A#, Cm, G# (sorry, it’s awkward).

3) The order of the chords after “Take On Me” switches from C,G,Am,F (G,D,Em,C) to Am,F,C,G (Em,C,G,D). It is the same order of chords, but I start with the minor chord for the last few songs.

4) Not all of these songs use ONLY these four chords in this order, so I may just be playing a section of the song that does.

5) I don’t have the strumming pattern written down or anything, so if you want to figure it out I just suggest playing along with the video, or try making up your own strumming patterns.

The songs I play in order are:
James Blunt – You’re Beautiful
Five for Fighting – Superman (It’s Not Easy)
Jason Mraz – I’m Yours
Fort Minor – Where’d You Go
Maroon 5 – She Will Be Loved
Alicia Keys – No One
Black Eyed Peas – Where is the Love?
Rex Hermogino – Love on the Internet
Mika – Happy Ending
Beatles – Let It Be
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Under the Bridge
Michael Jackson – Man in the Mirror
a-ha – Take On Me
T.I. – Whatever You Like
OneRepublic – Apologize
Outlandish – Aicha
Toto – Africa
Eagle Eye Cherry – Save Tonight
Beyonce – If I Were a Boy

What are easy guitar songs to learn from the 60’s and 70’s?

3rd April

So my dad made me this deal that if i can play one rock and roll song from the sixties or seventies that he’d buy me a gibson les paul studio. Now, im only 15 so its a big deal to me. What’s a easy guitar song from then that i could learn pretty fast.

P.S. He’s doing this because he wants me to learn where rock and roll came from originally.

"Smoke on the Water" is incredibly simple and learned by pretty much all guitarists, so it’s not the most original, interesting choice and often gets rolled eyes when you start to play it.

"I Feel Fine" by The Beatles is cool and "Good Times Bad Times" and "Communication Breakdown" by Led Zeppelin are also good choices.

Personally as a guitarist, I’d recommend sticking with classic rock from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s if you want to become a good guitarist because the music of today is very boring and repetitive to play and it doesn’t really get you anywhere. The guitar in older songs tends to be more interesting and also will help improve your playing more than playing the simplistic chord progressions that make up most of today’s music.

What easy guitar songs use basic chords?

1st April

I am a beginner and I still need to practice basic guitar chords. Songs like Last Kiss from Pearl Jam (G, Em, C, D) are probably the easiest way to learn them, so I thought I could search for more songs like this one. Any ideas?

THX for any answer =D

I learned Last Kiss in 1964. It was made by J. Frank Wilson. I learned my first notes on this song. I play the bass part. I heard Pearl Jam and I love it. Most songs use G-C-D or E-A-D. I was asked to play Up Around the Bend by Creedence Clearwater the song is A-D and the chorus is G-A-D.
